Our world is facing complex challenges—from climate change to social inequality—and we believe that today’s children have the highest potential to bring fresh ideas, energy, and a renewed commitment to creating a better future. The “Leading with Character” programme aims to inspire secondary school students in Hong Kong to step into the role of global citizens and lead with a vision of a brighter, more sustainable world. Three key themes that will run throughout the programme are presented below.

Making a Difference

How can you develop a sense of purpose that drives your actions and inspires others? How can you be on a path that aligns with your values and leads to meaningful impact? Through “Leading with Character,” students will explore guiding questions like these, grounding their learning in both ancient wisdom and modern science on leadership and character development.

Global Citizenship in Action

As part of a generation that will shape the future, participants will learn what it means to be global citizens in an interconnected world. Together, we’ll dive into what it means to take on a leadership role—not only in their schools, neighbourhoods, and local communities but also in the broader global community. With a focus on cultivating virtues such as empathy, resilience, and integrity, students will explore how these qualities can fuel positive change and contribute to achieving global goals.

Building Hope and Resilience

In a world where challenges can feel overwhelming, leading with hope means having the courage and resilience to keep moving forward. This programme will teach students how to sustain their motivation, stay focused on their purpose, and lead with optimism, even when facing setbacks. By discussing current global challenges and the role they can play in addressing them, students will gain insights into the power of hope-driven leadership.

Throughout the programme, students will engage in hands-on activities, carefully facilitated discussions, and reflective practices that encourage them to think deeply about the kind of leaders they aspire to become. Participants will:

• Learn from inspiring leaders and thinkers who have dedicated their lives to promoting sustainable change and global good.
• Practice empathy, resilience, and collaborative problem-solving, equipping them to handle both personal and global challenges.
• Engage in activities that connect leadership to hope and global goals, helping them see how their actions contribute to a larger, more inclusive vision for the world.

By the end of the programme, students will learn how to make values-driven choices, the courage to act with purpose, and a commitment to growing as leaders of hope and global citizens who will bring positive change.

Programme structure

In this programme, students will experience the vibrant history and heritage of Oxford through immersive sessions across its historic colleges, museums, parks, and cultural landmarks. Walking through the Story Museum, they’ll explore narratives that spark creativity and curiosity, connecting to timeless tales like Alice in Wonderland, which was inspired by Oxford’s very streets and gardens. At the Ashmolean Museum, they’ll delve into art and sculptures spanning centuries, while the Natural History Museum and the Museum of the History of Science bring to life discoveries that have shaped our understanding of the natural and scientific world. Sessions in iconic places such as Rhodes House, with its connections to global leadership, will offer a unique setting to discuss the programme’s themes, enhancing the children’s sense of purpose and possibility. Meanwhile, time spent in University Parks and the 400-year-old Botanic Garden of Oxford will allow students to
immerse themselves in a natural setting steeped in inspiration and world history. The overall programme experience transforms Oxford into more than just a ackdrop; it becomes an integral part of a journey in character, learning, and leadership.

Please check the Programme Schedule here.

Diese Information kann nur auf Englisch angezeigt werden „Leading with Character“ : A bespoke leadership programme in Oxford (Please check the Programme Schedule here) In today’s world, the need for leaders who act with empathy, resilience, and hope has never been greater.
